Word-for-word transliterations of Sanskrit classics being the motto, we strive to present some legendary works on this webpage with the enthusiasm given by our readers to proceed further in this long-forgotten lane of Sanskrit Classics. Among them Ritusamhāram, gīta-govindam are completed, while others like vAlmIki rAmAyaNa, raghuvamsham, harivamsham are yet to be completed.

Earlier, bhārata sāvitri, an extinct text forming part of mahābhārata, is retrieved and presented here.

Fonts

As of now, August 08, only one browser, namely Opera, is showing Sanskrit fonts correctly. All these works are done with the fonts of Omkārananda Ashram, and the readers are requested to install Sanskrit 98, 99, Sanskrit99classic, Translit 98, URW Palladio IT etc fonts to see these works. Fonts are provided herewith in a zip file.

There is an unsung but beautiful font, with Itranslator called Sanskrit99classic, and Ritusamhāram is reworked in that font, for a change. gīta-govindam and raghuvamshamare in Sanskrit 99 font, but Sanskrit99classic also shows them. And fonts Sanskrit 98 and Translit 98 are for vālmiki rāmāyaNa. English text  is composed in Georgia font. All these fonts are available here: fonts.zip [600kb]

Even though these fonts are installed the result may be gibberish as main bowsers have stopped dispalying Indic fonts properly. Hence we suggest the reraders to use older versions of browsers, especially Opera, which are somewhat faithful in rendering old fonts. In view of the failure of browsers to render Indic fonts properly, of late we have resorted to give texts only in Itrans coding.
